What to Expect at Your First Spa Day in Brighton

Never visited a spa before? Here is everything you need to know before your first appointment at Phoenix Eco Spa - from what to wear to how to prepare.

Walking into a spa for the first time can feel a little daunting if you are not sure what to expect. We want every visit to Phoenix Eco Spa to feel effortless - so here is a straightforward guide to your first appointment.

Before you arrive

Book your treatment online through our booking system - you will receive a confirmation email with your appointment details. If you have any skin conditions, allergies, or health considerations (including pregnancy), please mention these when booking so your therapist can prepare accordingly.

Try to arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment. This gives you time to settle in, complete a brief consultation form, and chat with your therapist before the treatment begins.

What to wear

We provide towels and robes for treatments that require you to undress. For a massage, you will typically remove most clothing, but your therapist will always ensure you are properly covered throughout - only the area being worked on is ever exposed. For a facial, you will simply lie on the treatment bed fully clothed from the waist down.

If you are having a manicure, pedicure, or eye treatment, you can remain fully dressed throughout.

The consultation

At the start of your appointment, your therapist will ask a few questions about your health, your skin (for facials), any areas of tension (for massage), and what you are hoping to get from the treatment. This is not just admin - it ensures your treatment is genuinely tailored to you.

During the treatment

Your therapist will step out while you get settled on the treatment bed. The room will be warm, the lighting low, and there is usually gentle ambient sound to help you relax. You do not need to make conversation - many clients fall asleep, and that is absolutely fine.

If at any point the pressure is too firm or too gentle, or if you are uncomfortable in any way, just say so. Your therapist will always adjust.

After your treatment

Take your time getting up after a treatment - you may feel a little light-headed after a deep massage, which is normal. We recommend drinking plenty of water for the rest of the day.

For facials, your skin may look slightly flushed immediately after - this settles within an hour. Try to avoid applying heavy products directly after a facial to let your skin breathe.
