Since 2017, Phoenix Eco Spa has planted one tree for every treatment performed. Here is why we started, how it works, and what it means for the planet.
When Phoenix Eco Spa opened in Brighton in 2017, the commitment was simple: every decision we make should be guided by our values. Vegan products. Eco-conscious practices. And a genuine contribution to the world beyond our four walls.
The one-tree-per-treatment initiative came from that same starting point.
How it works
Every time a treatment is performed at Phoenix - a massage, a facial, a pedicure, a waxing appointment - a tree is planted on behalf of that client. It is not an option or an add-on. It is built into every booking, automatically.
Over the years, this has added up to thousands of trees planted through reforestation projects that restore native habitats and support local communities.
Why trees?
Trees are among the most effective tools we have for addressing climate change. A single mature tree can absorb around 20kg of CO2 per year. They support biodiversity, prevent soil erosion, regulate water cycles, and provide habitat for wildlife. In many parts of the world, reforestation also creates employment and economic stability for local communities.
We chose trees because the impact is tangible, lasting, and measurable. Unlike carbon offsetting schemes that can feel abstract, a tree is a physical thing that continues growing long after your appointment.
The broader picture
The tree initiative is one part of a broader commitment at Phoenix. We use exclusively vegan and cruelty-free products - because we believe beauty should never require harm to animals. We minimise single-use plastics in our packaging and operations. And we are continually looking at ways to reduce our environmental footprint as we grow.
With our Hove location opening in April 2026, the impact will scale further. Every treatment at both locations contributes to reforestation.
